Col. Zack T. Miller

Col. Zack T. Miller entered the world just as his father was laying the groundwork for what would become the legendary 101 Ranch in northern Oklahoma. Located in the heart of the Cherokee Strip, the ranch grew into a sprawling enterprise of over 101,000 acres, extending across Noble, Pawnee, Osage, and Kay counties.
While the 101 Ranch became internationally known for its Wild West Show, Zack focused his efforts on livestock management. He led the ranch’s beef and sheep operations with a commitment to innovation and quality. Drawing livestock from around the globe, Zack implemented advanced cross-breeding techniques that improved meat production and disease resistance, making him a recognized leader in American ranching.
Zack’s agricultural success supported the ranch’s broader ecosystem, which included a packing plant, dairy, general store, tannery, and even its own newspaper. His practical leadership grounded the ranch’s showmanship in real-world productivity, contributing to the ranch’s economic strength and cultural influence.
Col. Zack T. Miller’s legacy lives on in the annals of Western history. As a builder of herds and steward of the land, his contributions helped define Oklahoma’s place in the story of American agriculture and cowboy heritage.
